Dealing With Aging Skin Problems

Aging skin is just a normal part of the aging process. I am proud of my smile lines and crow’s feet around my eyes because I’ve earned them and they show a positive side of my character. But, if I were entirely honest, I would have to admit there are times I wish I could do away with my aging skin problems, like sagging, discoloration and “age spots”, and new wrinkles appearing each year.

Is there really a good way to reverse skin damage and rejuvenate cells to a more youthful state without resorting to extreme measures like laser treatment and plastic surgery? Fortunately, the answer is “yes”. Thanks to modern scientific research and testing, several products now have ingredients that are proven to really work.

When you’re shopping, be sure to look for ingredients in your facial products that are clinically proven to stimulate collagen and elastin growth. As we age, these two proteins are in short supply, and skin elasticity, tone, and overall condition begin to decline. If you want younger looking skin, you need your skin to make more collagen and elastin.

A second important factor is to prevent further skin damage that happens through oxidization, a process that can occur when free radicals damage cells. You’ll want to eat plenty of antioxidants for great skin, but you also want to use products that contain antioxidants for further protection. Antioxidants basically destroy the free radicals that otherwise would wreak havoc.

And, be sure that your products have enough active ingredients in them to be effective. One common ploy that some skincare manufacturers use is to put a minute amount of active ingredient in their product, just so they can put it on the label. If there isn’t enough in there, it won’t be very useful. Another tactic is to advertise “collagen” as an ingredient, but actually, topical collagen cannot be absorbed into the skin because the molecules are too large. Instead, you want your own skin to be stimulated to make its own new collagen.

Two ingredients to look for when buying a new product are Cynergy TK, which contains functional keratin, and Phytessence Wakame. Clinical studies prove that Cynergy TK stimulates the regrowth of collagen and elastin. Phytessence Wakame, derived from a type of Japanese sea kelp, also rejuvenates and protects your skin from further damage. You may not have heard of these ingredients yet, as they have been primarily marketed in New Zealand.

Be sure to do your own research, and don’t just rely on marketing claims and glamorous models when selecting your anti aging skin care products. Personally, I prefer a company that spends their money on research and ingredients versus marketing. I think you’ll be far more satisfied when you get a product that really works to remove aging spots, sagging, and wrinkles. With the right products, you really will be able to turn back time and reduce those aging skin problems that we all dread.

I recommend the Xtend-Life Skincare line, because it’s clinically proven to show results, using only the finest ingredients that are safe and healthy for your skin.
